    Westin Maui spa gets certified

    The Spa at The Westin Maui received certification for international standards of SpaExcellenceSM2005 awarded by SpaQuality LLC'

    "[We] are excited to have gone through the SpaExcellenceSM Certification process, which assisted us in meeting a high quality requirement for spa standards and customer service," said Bridget Phillips, spa director.

    The spa underwent a $5 million renovation in 2004 that expanded its footprint and upgraded its equipment.

    SpaQuality LLC is an independent accreditation agency that educates spas on quality standards, conducts assessments and certifies those that meet the standards' requirements.

    The Westin Maui went through a scheduled two-day, open-book assessment. SpaQuality gave it a detailed report on the good and the bad and offered ideas for improvement. The Spa at The Westin Maui completed these suggestions within the stipulated time frame to receive the certification.

    Hereafter, the spa can expect unscheduled assessments.
